The seeds that I am testing and growing for the All America seeds this year include:
- Watermelon, ‘Mini Love’
- Watermelon: Cal Sweet Bush
- Pepper : Just Sweet
- Potato: Clancy
- Tomato: Fire Fly
- Tomato: Red Torch
- Tomato: Cocktail, Red Racer
- Marigold: Big Duck Gold
- Petunia: Carmen Velour Wave
- Begonia: Viking XL Red on Chocolate
- Zinnia: Holi Scarlet
The seeds arrived March 7 so there will be problems getting both the Petunia and Begonia (particularly the Begonia) into growth and bloom for a good trial. Both of these plants prefer an earlier germination here. For example, when I had my nursery we’d start Fibrous Begonias in the first week of January for May sales. But hope springs eternal and they’ll be in the seed-starter area less than 12 hours after arriving here.
A New Reporting System
One of the problems we’ve had in the past is the reports get lost in the shuffle of time and space as other posts are added to the websites.
This year, I’ll be adding the reports to individual plant pages. So the watermelon reports will be added to the main how-to-grow Watermelon
page. Tomatoes to the tomato page. Etc. If you want to know what plant to grow and how it did in my garden, you don’t have to search through multiple years of trials, you simply go to the main plant page and the data will be there – all in one place. And yes, I’m slowly but surely finding and moving old reports into place as well. (slower than I’d like but…)
Stay tuned for ongoing reports and updates as I get these plants sown and into the garden.
