If you take cut flowers into your house or if you recut purchased flowers (you should be recutting) before you arrange them, this tip is for you.
- Disinfect both your pruning shears and the vase with a 10% bleach solution.
- At the very least, disinfect the vase with a thorough washing.
- Research (reference below) indicated that Gerbera daisy flowers lived 3 days longer if disinfected pruning shears were used compared to non-disinfected.
So – using disinfected pruning shears is really easy to do and gets you an extra few days of vase life.
